Kunst en Samenleving

I was pleasantly surprised to find yet another of the books that are on my shelves has found its way into Europeana. And not only that, this book is featured in the ‘Reading Europe’ virtual exhibition created by The European Library, that highlights the top items from each of Europe’s national libraries.
Unfortunatley my copy is slightly damaged at the spine, but still – I do agree with the taste of whoever picked the higlights for the Netherlands – it is a beautiful book. Written by Walter Crane, and translated by Jan Veth, it explores the relationship between Art and Society. The potential boredom induced by the subject is more than outweighed by the excellent design and typography:
Art and society;Kunst en samenleving
The book is available in full text.
