Janus Gruterus was born in Antwerp; Jospeh Conrad was born in Berdyczów; Circustheater Carre was opened in Amsterdam.

Janus Gruterus, Dutch philologist and critic, was born in Antwerp in 1560:
Janus Gruterus Florilegium ethico-politicum nunquam antehac editum

Joseph Conrad, Polish-born English author, whose most famous works are ‘Lord Jim’ and ‘Heart of Darkness’ was born in Berdyczów in 1857. Heart of Darkness was later adapted into the spectacular movie ‘Apocalypse Now’.

Circusheater Carré in Amsterdam opened in 1887: Ever wondered why a ‘circustheather’ (theatre for the circus, so in effect a circular theatre) was called Carré? It was founded by Oscar Carré, who was a circus-man, and it was used initially for circus performances. It is now the main amusement theatre in Amsterdam.
