On the 25th of December –

Christmas is celebrated; both Charlemagne and William the Bastard were crowned on this day.

On the 25th of December Christians traditionally celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Whatever the truth in that, it is a nice occasion to be with family and friends. The video clip below is a nice European example: Italian migrant workers in the Netherlands go home to celebrate Christmas Italian style:

Christmas day is also a great day for coronations: both Charlemagne (Karel de Grote) and William the Bastard (now better known as William the Conqueror) were crowned on Christmas.
