Today in Europeana: 26 December

On the 26th of December –

Boxing Day is celebrated; King Lear premieres.

The day after Chirstmas is called Boxing Day in England, the Dutch use the more descriptive ‘Tweede Kerstdag’. It is the day people suffer a hangover from eating and drinking too much the day before, and then go out to buy new furniture to make the day truly perfect.
