Il Trovatore, Thomas Herbst, VW Beetle

Il Trovatore premieres; Thomas Herbst is born; last Beetle rolls out of the factory.

In 1852 Verdi’s opera Il Trovatore premieres in Rome.

In 1915 Thomas Herbst (b. 1848), German impressionist painter and one of the founders of the Hamburgischer Künstlerclub, dies in Hamburg.

In 1978 the last Volkswagen Beetle (kever/Käfer) is produced in Emden, Germany. Production continued in Brazil and Mexico:
