Zeppelin bombs Paris, Daniel Auber, Innsbruck Winter Olympics

On the 29th of January –

In 1916, in WW I aka. The Great War, Paris was bombarded by a Zeppelin for the first time. Here are some pictures of the wreckage:

In 1782 French opera composer Daniel Auber was born. His most famous work is the opera Manon Lescaut. I find it exciting that we can show an actual photograph of someone born in 1782 – is that wierd? By the way, the photo was taken by Nadar

In 1964 the IXth Olympic Wintergames start in Innsbruck.
