Leiden University, Henri Farman

On the 8th of February –

in 1575 Leiden University was founded, in part as a reward for the city´s stout resistance to the Spanish: refusing to surrender under siege, they endured hunger and pestilence. ‘Leidens Ontzet’ (the lifting of the siege of Leiden) is still celebrated every year. The main ‘claims to fame’ for Leiden University are the achievements in low-temperature physics by Kamerlingh-Onnes and others, and the strong orientalist tradition: Arabic and Asian languages have always been very strong in Leiden, largely due to the Dutch trading interests in the East.

French aviation pioneer Henri Farman founds the first commercial airline, together with his brother Maurice. It later (in 1933) became one of the founding partners of Air France.

I also found a Henry Farman racing cars in the early 1900s. Could anyone tell me if this is the same person as the aviator?
