Carolus Clusius, Sven Hedin, Luigi Dallapiccola

On the 19th of February –

In 1526 Flemish botanist Charles de L’Ecluse, perhaps better known als Carolus Clusius is born in Arras. He died in Leiden in 1609.

Swedish explorer Sven Hedin is born in 1865 in Stockholm. He is famous for his travels in inner-Asia and the Himalayas, and infamous for his relations with Nazi Germany, which, while based on mutual admiration, is very complex. Please refer to the wikipedia article for more details on this.

Italian composer Luigi Dallapiccola died in 1975 in Florence; he was born in 1904 in Pisino d’Istria (now Pazin, Croatia).
