massacre in Nepal

On the 1st of June –

In 2001 the royal family of Nepal is massacred by the crown prince, who then turned the gun onto himself. Apparently the event was provoked by a dispute over the prince’s choice of bride… The only survivor of the royal family was King Birendra’s middle brother, who was out of the country at the time. He was later declared the new king.
