Our Lady of Kazan

On the 8th of July –

In 1579 the holy icon of Our Lady of Kazan was found in an underground location in the city of Kazan. It was located by a little girl, directed there by a vision of the Blessed Virgin. All very Fatima.

It became an iconic (no pun intended) image for the Russian orthodox church – here in a rendering from Rumania:
Maica Domnului cu pruncul

Some other versions in Europeana:
Cathédrale orthodoxe Saint-Nicolas
Cathédrale orthodoxe Saint-Nicolas
