Humboldt University founded in Berlin

On the 16th of August –

In 1809 the Humboldt-Universität is officially founded at the initiative of the German Wilhelm von Humboldt – but admitted students only in 1810. That must have been bliss for the scientists there at the time: a university without any students 🙂
Maybe that is why in that same year the founders brother Alexander found the time to write this book about Mexico (or New-Spain as it was then called):
Versuch über den politischen Zustand des Königreichs Neu-Spanien / 1

Fischer, Johann Karl: Alexander von Humboldt

Humboldt University Berlin, and especially Prof. Gradmann‘s team, is one of our most loyal Europeana partners – they have been instrumental in much of the work around EDM (Europeana Data Model). Congratulations!
